Our old neighbor had her 50th birthday party last night at Pinstripes, a trendy bowling alley/restaurant/bocce court in a new mall in South Barrington. We had round banquet tables set up along the bocce courts in a back room with gas heaters overhead. The food was excellent, starting with crostini with mozzarella & tomato appetizers [...] As a fund raiser, St Ann’s Episcopal Church invited parishioners to the Randall and Vine wine shop in Algonquin to sample 16 wines and enjoy some food. Say what you want about Episcopalian politics etc.; these people know how to have a good time. For $35 we got to taste each wine (several times as [...] We arose early, to grab some coffee and fruit and headed out at 7 to the race site. We found Sara there by phone. Sam was in an early wave, and was in the water by the time we got there, so we waited on the beach for him to come out. Their running friend [...] We did the morning workshop with Gabriel Halpern at Kalitrea in Crystal Lake, IL. Our weekly yoga teacher Kate Halma recommended his workshops, and I was having some hip issues, so we went. It was crowded and warm – 25 people in the space. Very slippery floors.
