<p>Joe: </p>
<blockquote><p>Here is a link to the video that the Post had briefly Friday morning. It is one of the few that has me talking&#8230;.. in case you care. John asked for the video where I could be heard, but it seems silly not to self promote given all the bloody self promotion that I just went through.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.sphere.com/science/article/robot-off-samoa-records-deepest-underwater-volcanic-eruption/19286742">This was a piece</a> put together by AP international and then sold to whomever, I was interviewed at the conference</p>
<p><object id="flashObj" width="400" height="346" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,47,0"><param name="movie" value="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9/10032373001?isVid=1&#038;publisherID=1612833736" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><param name="flashVars" value="videoId=57940332001&#038;playerID=10032373001&#038;domain=embed&#038;" /><param name="base" value="http://admin.brightcove.com" /><param name="seamlesstabbing" value="false" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="swLiveConnect" value="true" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent"/><embed src="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9/10032373001?isVid=1&#038;publisherID=1612833736" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" flashVars="videoId=57940332001&#038;playerID=10032373001&#038;domain=embed&#038;" base="http://admin.brightcove.com" name="flashObj" width="400" height="346" seamlesstabbing="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" swLiveConnect="true" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="transparent" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></embed></object></p>
<p>and then the <a href="http://uwnews.org/article.asp?articleID=54413">UW site </a>doing some self promotion (ed note: some maps of locations and more video)</p>
<p>and finally there is the <a href="http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/kplu/news.newsmain/article/0/13/1589908/Top.Stories/A.Deep-Sea.First.Video.of.Erupting.Volcano">Seattle public radio station interview</a> over the phone from my hotel room. (ed. note: videos and other info here too)</p>
<p>I did a recorded interview with BBC, and a live interview with CNN-International during what must have been a newscast in London, I missed a real interview with the Seattle times, and didn&#8217;t connect up with BBC&#8217;s &#8220;UP ALL night&#8221; program.</p>
<p>A whirlwind tour&#8230;..almost done. Hypothetically I will be on Fox and Friends on Monday morning 3:50 am my time&#8230;. They are sending a car to get me. Maybe they will change their mind and I can sleep instead. </p>
<p>What a nutty idea. I told my boss no, but he twisted my arm. Certainly this must be the end of this stuff? We&#8217;ll see. Maybe I will still get NPR??</p>
<p>Joe
</p></blockquote>
<p>Most scientists labor in obscurity. May Joe be a little less obscure now. Uncle Hank is very proud of his boy.</p>
<p>Some short quiet videos with ominous rumblings from magma exploding 100 feet away.<br />

Good, but I should have gotten the burger. Neil had the fish combo and concurs. Little Owl was a lot less crowded than I remember.</p>
<p>Got to Fermilab in good time, and walked the path to the Lederman center, checked the time on the sundial, and walked around the building looking in like kids outside a closed candy store.</p>
<p>Back at the Wilson center we watched the MINOS project film. Fermilab closed the other exhibit center in the atrium, and replaced it with a control room for the swing shift at the CERN LHC.</p>
<p>Then the lecture, <a href="http://www.fnal.gov/culture/NewArts/Lectures/07-08/Stupp.shtml">&#8220;Nanotechnology: The Crafting of Self-Assembling Materials for Medicine and Energy&#8221;</a> by <a href="http://stupp.northwestern.edu/vitae/index.html">Dr Samuel Stupp</a> of the <a href="http://stupp.northwestern.edu/">Stupp Institute</a> at Northwestern University. </p>
<p>Fascinating. Good questions. This guy must never sleep. I want a job there. And I want some cartilage when they start making it&#8230;</p>
