Running the Bitnami Rails Stack under VirtualBox
So according to the Bitnami VM FAQ
- Edit /opt/bitnami/mysql/my.cnf to add the port specification so you can connect to the server without a local socket.
- Add “Allow from all” to /opt/bitnami/apache2/apps/phpmyadmin/conf/phpmyadmin.conf. This enables access to mysqladmin from outside the VM.
- Patch the firewall so you can maintain MySQL using SQLYog on the host box.
- vi /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2
- FW_SERVICES_EXT_TCP=”22 80 443″
- Then it is necessary to restart the firewall:
# /etc/init.d/SuSEfirewall2_init restart
# /etc/init.d/SuSEfirewall2_setup restart
